Liard Hot Springs Lodge is a popular stop along the Alaska Highway between Fort Nelson, BC, and Watson Lake, YK. Surrounded by spectacular northern wilderness, the lodge is located directly across from Liard River Hot Springs Provincial Park, home to Canada's second-largest natural hot springs.
We are currently seeking a Store Clerk to support the day-to-day operations of our on-site store. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering excellent customer service, assisting guests, maintaining store operations, and upholding the welcoming reputation of Liard Hot Springs Lodge.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service & Point of Sale (POS)
- Welcome customers, answer questions, and provide product recommendations.
- Operate the point-of-sale system, barcode scanners, and payment terminals to process cash, debit, and credit card transactions.
- Balance cash drawers at the beginning and end of each shift, ensuring accuracy.
- Assist guests with RV park and camping reservations.
Store Maintenance & Housekeeping
- Maintain a clean and organized store environment by dusting shelves, sweeping and mopping floors, and cleaning counters.
- Empty garbage bins regularly throughout the shift.
- Ensure merchandise displays remain neat and attractive.
Stocking & Inventory
- Receive, unpack, inspect, and stock merchandise.
- Rotate products on shelves and in coolers to ensure freshness and accessibility.
- Remove expired, damaged, or unsellable items from inventory and sales areas.
Safety & Loss Prevention
- Monitor the store for suspicious activity and help prevent theft or loss.
- Report security concerns, equipment malfunctions, or maintenance issues promptly.
- Follow all workplace safety policies and emergency procedures.
Qualifications & Skills
- Strong basic math skills and cash-handling accuracy.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Friendly, dependable, and able to resolve customer concerns professionally.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs.
- Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and a rotating schedule.
Working Conditions
- Live and work on-site in a remote location with limited services.
- Shared accommodation environment with other employees.
- Transportation is provided between Fort Nelson and Liard Hot Springs Lodge for a two-week shift rotation.
- Position involves repetitive and physically demanding tasks.
- The facility operates using diesel generator power, artesian well water, and a septic system.
