We are currently seeking experienced IRATA Level 3 Rope Access Technicians to join our team at the Shell Scotford site in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta. This is a long-term local opportunity for a skilled technician with strong industrial experience and a commitment to safety and quality.
Position Details
- Position: IRATA Level 3 Rope Access Technician
- Location: Shell Scotford, Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta
- Schedule: Monday to Thursday, 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. (10-hour shifts)
- Hours: 40 hours per week
- Start Date: As soon as possible
- Duration: Long-term opportunity
- Travel: Local position — no camp accommodation or Living Out Allowance (LOA)
Insulation experience is considered a strong asset and will be highly valued.
What You’ll Do
- Perform rope access work on industrial and Oil & Gas projects, including construction, inspections, maintenance, and repairs
- Lead and support rope access teams while maintaining high safety and quality standards
- Supervise, mentor, and support Level 1 and Level 2 technicians in their professional development
- Collaborate with Project Managers on project scope, work planning, scheduling, and reporting
- Conduct daily safety meetings and review Field Level Risk Assessments (FLRAs)
- Ensure compliance with IRATA standards, client requirements, and Alberta Occupational Health & Safety regulations, including Part 41
- Identify hazards, implement appropriate controls, and promote a safe and professional work environment
- Communicate effectively with clients and represent Pacific Ropes with professionalism and integrity
Qualifications & Experience
- IRATA Level 3 Certification required
- IRATA Level 1 and Level 2 Technicians are also encouraged to apply for future opportunities
- Standard First Aid certification required
- Extensive industrial rope access experience with a strong safety record
- Leadership or supervisory experience considered an asset
- Knowledge of IRATA International Code of Practice (ICOP), TACS, and Alberta OHS Part 41 requirements
- Previous Oil & Gas, refinery, or heavy industrial experience preferred
- Experience with insulation work is an asset
- Additional safety certifications considered an asset:
- CSTS / OSSA BSO / OSSA CSO
- Confined Space Entry & Monitor (CSE/M)
- ESC Fall Protection
