Overview
We (Second Cup Coffee) are seeking a friendly and efficient Barista to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for delivering exceptional customer service and be comfortable working in a fast-paced food and beverage environment. This role offers an opportunity to develop skills in food preparation, cash handling, and customer interaction while contributing to a welcoming atmosphere for our guests. Previous experience in the food industry or as a barista is preferred but not required; training will be provided.
Duties
- Prepare and serve a variety of coffee, tea, and specialty beverages using standard recipes and equipment
- Operate POS systems, including Micros POS, accurately processing transactions and handling cash and card payments
- Ensure food safety and cleanliness standards are maintained throughout the shift
- Assist customers with menu selections, answer questions about products, and provide excellent customer service
- Handle food preparation tasks such as assembling drinks, snacks, or light food items
- Maintain cleanliness of work areas, equipment, and dining spaces according to health standards
- Manage time effectively during busy periods to serve customers promptly and efficiently
- Restock supplies as needed to ensure smooth operation during shifts
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Barista or in food service is highly desirable
- Familiarity with POS systems, especially Micros POS, is preferred
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to engage positively with guests
- Basic math skills for cash handling and transaction accuracy
- Knowledge of food safety standards and proper food handling procedures
- Excellent time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently during peak hours
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Flexibility to work various shifts including mornings, afternoons, or evenings as needed
