Larga, we support guests from the Northwest Territories and Nunavut who are in Edmonton for medical care. Our kitchen is the heart of our home-away-from-home — serving fresh, nutritious meals with care, compassion, and cultural respect.
We are looking for a
creative, experienced Cook to join our team. If you're passionate about scratch cooking, food quality, and making a difference in people’s lives, we want to hear from you.
What You’ll Do-
Prepare three daily meals following the Canadian Food Guide, with attention to dietary needs (e.g., allergies, soft/salt-free/clear fluid diets)

Cook from scratch and develop menus that are nourishing and appealing

Maintain the cleanliness and organization of kitchen, equipment, and prep areas

Monitor food storage temperatures and stock levels; track expiry dates and replenish supplies

Ensure food safety and sanitation regulations are followed at all times

Support and mentor junior kitchen staff, and collaborate with the kitchen team for smooth service

Assist with inventory control, ordering, and receiving kitchen deliveries
-
Wash dishes, remove garbage, and perform scheduled deep cleaning tasks

Log communication notes, submit accurate time sheets, and participate in staff meetings

Step in for Kitchen Helper or Dining Attendant tasks when needed

Respond to guest inquiries with respect and refer them to appropriate staff if needed
What We’re Looking For-
2+ years of previous cooking experience in a professional kitchen

Able to plan and prepare meals from scratch, including for guests with dietary restrictions

Strong knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and inventory management

Self-motivated and organized with excellent time management skills

Team player with strong communication skills

Fluent in English (written and spoken)

Able to pass a Vulnerable Sector Check and annual medical exam

Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and working in a hot, fast-paced kitchen environment
Preferred (but not required):-
Food Safe, WHMIS, CPR/First Aid, Emergency Response, Non-Crisis Intervention certifications

Knowledge of Indigenous cultures/languages

Interest in pursuing trade certification or mentoring junior staff
