POSITION SUMMARY
Designs and drafts trailer parts and assemblies. Inspects defective manufactured parts, and acts as an internal and external technical support to ensure products meet customer specifications.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Works from sketches and verbal instructions to design and draft parts and assemblies. Consult with project supervisors to obtain specialized information as needed. Create bills of materials and work with ERP systems.
- Examines, measures, and inspects defective parts for non-conformance to design drawing specifications.
- Produces schematic drawings.
- Creates nesting layouts
- Provides technical support to various departments. Acts as the liaison for manufacturing and completion shop staff when products cannot be built to print.
- Works towards standardizing all product lines.
- May assist with or provide training to less experienced staff.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience:
- Diploma in Design Drafting/CAD Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of two (2) years of drafting/design experience in a manufacturing environment, with a strong understanding of manufacturing processes.
- Experience in the transportation or metal fabrication industry is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement principles is considered an asset.
- MET or CET designation is considered an asset.
Skills:
- Proficiency in 3D modeling, preferably using PTC Creo (formerly Pro/ENGINEER) or equivalent CAD software.
- Proficient Microsoft Office.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail.
- Ability to work efficiently in a team environment
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with individuals at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to prepare and write technical reports
HOURS:
- Monday to Friday from 8:00AM to 4:30PM
