Townline Construction Inc. is seeking a Construction Labourer / Traffic Control Person to support our site at Duncan, BC. This role is responsible for maintaining a safe and efficient worksite through effective traffic control, site support, and general labour duties. The successful candidate will work closely with site supervision, trades, and equipment operators to support daily construction operations while adhering to all safety requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
Traffic Control & Site Safety

Safely stop, slow, and direct traffic through construction zones

Regulate traffic flow to protect construction workers and the public

Communicate traffic control directions using hand signals, signs, and other non‑verbal methods
-
Set up, adjust, and remove traffic control devices including signs, cones, barricades, and warning devices
-
Inform motorists of reduced speed limits, lane closures, detours, or restricted access due to construction activities
-
Flag vehicles to warn of obstacles, hazards, or ongoing work
-
Close lanes as required for emergency or maintenance work
-
Respond to emergency situations as directed, assisting with public safety and property protection
-
Minimize traffic delays while maintaining safe and smooth traffic flow
-
Maintain records of vehicles that disobey traffic signals or signs
-
Communicate traffic concerns or issues to site supervision and team members
General Construction Labour
-
Load, unload, and move construction materials to work areas
-
Assist in erecting and dismantling concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks, shoring, and barricades
-
Mix, pour, and spread materials such as concrete and asphalt
-
Assist tradespersons including carpenters, bricklayers, cement finishers, roofers, and glaziers
-
Assist heavy equipment operators by securing attachments, signaling operators, and guiding equipment movement
-
Tend or feed construction equipment such as mixers, compressors, and pumps
-
Assist with demolition activities, including sorting, cleaning, and piling salvaged materials
-
Remove rubble and debris using hand tools, wheelbarrows, and other equipment
-
Perform general site cleanup and housekeeping
-
Direct traffic at or near construction sites as required
-
Perform other duties as assigned by site supervision
Skills and Requirements:

Valid Traffic Control Person (TCP) certification
-
Ability to follow safety procedures and site instructions
-
Strong communication skills
-
Ability to work effectively in a team environment

Physically capable of performing labour‑intensive work in varying weather conditions

Reliable, safety‑focused, and detail‑oriented
-
Knowledge and experience working in a constriction site is a requirement
-
Knowledge of various tools and equipment as well as materials and methods of construction is a requirement

Telehandler Forklift Certificate is an asset
-
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
-
Able to effectively communicate with all types of staff, including laborers, technical, professional, and upper management;

Commitment to working in a team environment, with established team building abilities;

Strong communication, leadership, integration, problem-solving and interpersonal skills;

Must have own steel toe boots
