The Business Development Manager will lead operations, growth, and stakeholder engagement in the assigned region. This role is responsible for executing global strategy locally, driving market penetration in water and wastewater infrastructure, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and certification requirements. Travel throughout Canada and wider area will be required.
Key tasks and responsibilities
Market Development
- Identify and pursue opportunities across utilities, municipalities, and consulting firms
- Build relationships with regulators, partners and industry stakeholders
- Represent the company at exhibitions, conferences and forums
Operational Leadership
- Oversee deployment of flow and level monitoring solutions
- Ensure compliance with regional certifications
- Manage local partners, technical support, and logistics
Commercial Execution
- Deliver sales targets and profitability goals
- Develop proposals, tenders, and data-driven business cases
- Support data mining and analytics commercialization plans
Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as the primary liaison between headquarters and local clients
- Provide executive-ready reporting on performance, risks, and opportunities
- Strengthen company’s reputation as a trusted, hands-on partner
Health and safety

Measures of success
The performance will be tracked against agreed targets on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
Knowledge & Experience
- Proven experience in a similar role, with a track record of delivering strong sales results and driving business growth, having minimum experience of 4 years.
- Excellent understanding of Canadian water utility businesses, with demonstratable stakeholder contacts across all regions.
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
- Active listening skills and the ability to understand the customer’s needs
- Strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to analyze market data and identify business opportunities.
- Strong business acumen and commercial awareness, with the ability to make informed decisions and drive organizational success.
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities and meeting tight deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Valid driving license
