Touchstone Family Association provides counselling and emotional support services to residents of Richmond and surrounding communities. We are a community based, social services agency committed to our vision of supporting strong, self-reliant families, youth and children.
We are currently recruiting for a full time Residential Child and Youth Care Worker at our Francis House Youth Wellness Program located in Vancouver.

The Child and Youth Care Counsellor (RWS) is responsible on a shift basis for providing therapeutic care to both individual and groups of adolescents or children within a residential or other setting as well as carrying out case management responsibilities for individual clients and their families. The worker shall provide for the emotional, social, physical and intellectual needs of adolescents/children.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
· Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills.

· Cooperate with a team approach, to implement program goals and direction.
· Comply with all program policies and procedures.
· Maintain working knowledge of all pertinent legislation.
· Represent the program/agency in a positive and professional manner in the community.
· Carry out and apply clinical and therapeutic direction as required within a relationship-based model.
· Complete and actualize outcomes based treatment plan for residents.
· Plan, prepare and conduct group or individual counseling sessions with clients and their families, including family support, teaching of parenting skills, crisis intervention and mediation to children, youth and their families.
· Knowledge and skill in using clinical techniques when dealing with youth and the ability to control acting out and aggressive behavior.
·Develop and maintain a trusting relationship with youth.
· Provide a positive role model; teaches clients effective social and interpersonal skills through tasks of daily living and social activities.
· Able to provide and participate in recreation designed to meet the needs, capabilities and interest of children/adolescents.
· Keep daily written and monthly reports that provide relevant clinical and observational aspects while child/adolescents in residence; as key-worker coordinates and leads case conference.
· Maintain a thorough knowledge of community resources to meet client’s needs; provides liaison, education and advocacy to other professionals, agencies and community and maintains positive relationships.
· Encourage and maintain youth in school programs or alternatives and outreach.
· Will attend and actively participate in staff meetings and agency training.
· Perform household chores and maintenance as requested.
· Any other duties as required.
Qualifications:
· A BA in related studies, or equivalent combination of comparable experience and education.
· One to three years work in a similar environment; direct experience in the community social services sector with a working knowledge of community based treatment and intervention of youth.
· Current First Aid and CPR Certificate.
· Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License; no restrictions. (Mandatory)
· Satisfactory Security Clearance.
· TB Test
Additional Information:
This position is required to work in an environment often dealing with children/youth in high emotional distress. An ability to react clearly and quickly in crisis situations and maintain control of the environment is essential.
Hours of Work:
As scheduled. Staff work a rotating shift schedule that includes day and evening shifts and some weekends.
Wages and Benefits:
Starting Wage : $29.17/hour
Benefits package after 3 months of employment which includes extended medical, dental and pension plan.
As per the Touchstone Collective Agreement.
