About Liuyishou Hotpot:
Chongqing Liuyishou Hotpot was founded in 2000, which is a leading enterprise that specializes in managing hot pot chains and franchisees. Liuyishou now has expanded its business to more than 1,200 overseas units all around the world. In 2014, Liuyishou chose the greater Vancouver for our North America Head Office and opened our first restaurant in Richmond BC. In 2015, Liuyishou International Management Company (Canada) Ltd. was established to operate Liuyishou Hot Pot Restaurants across North America. Since then, we have directly managed a central kitchen and large-scale food processing factory, with over 20 restaurants and 500 employees in North America.
We are seeking a reliable and skilled Second Chef (Sous Chef) to support the kitchen’s daily operations and assist the Head Chef in maintaining food quality, kitchen efficiency, and team discipline. The ideal candidate has solid kitchen experience, strong execution skills, and the ability to lead by example in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Chef in managing daily kitchen operations
- Supervise kitchen staff and support team coordination during service hours
- Ensure food preparation and plating meet company standards for quality, taste, and presentation
- Monitor food safety, sanitation, and hygiene practices in compliance with company policies and local regulations
- Assist with inventory control, ingredient preparation, waste reduction, and stock rotation
- Help train new kitchen staff on recipes, procedures, and kitchen discipline
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of all kitchen stations, equipment, and storage areas
- Support scheduling, prep planning, and task delegation as assigned by the Head Chef
- Step in to oversee kitchen operations when the Head Chef is absent
- Ensure all kitchen operations are carried out efficiently, safely, and consistently
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a line cook, senior cook, or assistant chef in a restaurant kitchen
- Experience in wok cooking is preferred, especially in a Chinese restaurant kitchen.
- Strong understanding of kitchen operations, food safety, and sanitation standards
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Strong teamwork, communication, and leadership skills
- Responsible, disciplined, and detail-oriented
- Flexible to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift kitchen supplies when required
