Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated Bricklayer Helper to assist experienced masons in constructing, repairing, and restoring brick, stone, and concrete structures. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the construction and masonry industry, supporting team efforts on various renovation and restoration projects. Duties
- Assist with mixing mortar and preparing materials for masonry work
- Support bricklayers by carrying bricks, tools, and materials to work areas
- Operate hand tools such as trowels, hammers, and chisels under supervision
- Use power tools safely for cutting and shaping bricks or stones
- Read blueprints, schematics, and construction plans to understand project requirements
- Prepare work sites by setting up scaffolding or other necessary equipment
- Help with demolition, restoration, and renovation tasks as needed
- Support heavy equipment operation when trained and authorized
- Perform caulking and sealing tasks during restoration projects
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment to ensure safety and efficiency
Experience
- Prior experience in construction or masonry is a plus but not required; training will be provided
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and basic blueprint reading is advantageous
- Experience with renovation or restoration projects is beneficial but not mandatory
- Ability to operate heavy equipment is a plus but not essential at the outset; training will be available
- Physical stamina and ability to perform manual labor in various weather conditions are necessary
- Willingness to learn new skills related to schematics interpretation and masonry techniques
