Role Summary:
The Carpenter works in conjunction with staff members at Rocky Cross Construction DKI disaster restoration contractor and ensures that shop and field projects are completed in a timely manner, on budget, and to the highest quality standards. Working with building materials either on a construction site or in our workshop with accuracy and attention to detail. Follows direction from the Branch Manager, or Project Manager Assistant to complete assigned task and has superior customer service skills.
Responsibilities:
- Follows a written scope and other specifications to determine method of installation, work procedures, and material and tool requirements.
- Understand and follow local building codes and regulations at all times.
- Ensure that all job related paperwork is completed.
- Be responsible for the finished product.
- General knowledge of the material and techniques used in general construction/home building, including demolition and rough/finish carpentry.
- Proficient in framing with a strong background in finish carpentry, hanging doors and cabinets, installing trim/railings, and setting windows.
- Able to perform drywall repairs, painting/staining, and tile installation (backsplashes, etc.) as needed.
- Be responsible for keeping the job site organized and clean at all times.
Skills/ Competencies Required:
- Must lift heavy items of at least 50 lbs on a routine basis.
- Be prepared to work in confined spaces or on scaffolding or platforms (providing you have proper training).
- Have basic knowledge of electrical and plumbing to remove/reset lights, connect switches, detach/reset sinks, toilets and appliances, etc
- Annual WHMIS Certification is required.
- Emergency or Standard First Aid would be an asset.
- Hold a valid Alberta Driver’s license and a clean driver’s abstract, as well as access to a vehicle to get to work.
- Be familiar with the appropriate tools, supplies and techniques used in a variety of different cleaning situations by reading trade journals and other industry information and attending industry educational opportunities.
