Limited is seeking a CFO to oversee and actively manage their financial operations for their group of companies – Wilsons Heating, Wilsons Security, and Wilsons Mechanical – across all locations.

- Wilsons Heating – Delivers fuel and propane services and supports customers with the installation, maintenance, and servicing of home and commercial heating systems.
- Wilsons Mechanical – Provides heating, cooling, and air quality solutions, including system design, installation, and ongoing HVAC service support.
- Wilsons Security – Offers security monitoring and life safety solutions, including system installation and ongoing protection for residential and commercial customers.
The Wilsons group has multiple locations across Nova Scotia, including in Halifax, Lower Sackville, Truro and the South Shore, as well as in Moncton, New Brunswick. Responsibilities
Reporting to the ownership group and working closely with the senior leadership team, the CFO will play a critical role in strengthening the organization’s financial foundation, acting as both a strategic advisor and hands-on leader, focused on building scalable systems, improving reporting quality, and supporting effective, well-informed decision-making.
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Lead the advancement of financial frameworks, processes, and reporting structures to support a more consistent and disciplined operating environment
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and alignment across the organization
- Partner with leadership to enhance visibility into financial performance through the development of meaningful reporting and key performance indicators
- Assess existing financial operations and identify opportunities to strengthen processes, controls, and overall effectiveness
- Lead the optimization and modernization of financial systems and tools, including automation, system integration, AI-enabled solutions, and the use of data and analytics to improve the timeliness, accuracy, and quality of financial insights
- Strengthen cash flow management practices to support proactive planning and effective resource allocation
- Establish and maintain strong internal controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard assets and ensure integrity of financial reporting
- Ensure compliance with all financial, regulatory, and reporting requirements, improving consistency and timeliness where needed
- Oversee core accounting functions, including payables, receivables, and reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and efficiency
- Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial reporting reflecting both the entity and group’s financial position
- Provide leadership, oversight and ongoing development to the finance team across the group of companies.
- Maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders, including auditors, lenders, legal, and other advisors, enhancing credibility, transparency, and overall productive business partnerships issues
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement within the finance function, including training, development, and knowledge-sharing
- Work closely with Human Resources (HR), Administration, and Information Technology (IT) teams to enhance organizational processes, support technology systems and initiatives, and ensure effective alignment between operational and financial priorities
- Take on additional responsibilities as required to support operational stability and organizational effectiveness
Requirements
- Significant (preferably 10+ years) experience in progressively senior finance roles, including experience in senior leadership positions
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, commerce, or a related field of stuff from a recognized university, with a major or concentration in accounting or finance
- Professional accounting designation (e.g., CPA) is required
- Demonstrated experience strengthening financial processes, controls, and reporting frameworks
- Experience leading or supporting the enhancement of financial systems, including process automation, system integration, AI-enabled technologies, and data analytics tools
- Proven ability to lead finance teams and improve the effectiveness of financial operations
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to translate financial data into clear, practical insights
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy, consistency, and follow-through
- Practical, hands-on approach with a willingness to engage in day-to-day financial activities
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with a range of constituencies in a diverse industry
As the Chief Financial Officer, you’ll be a key partner to ownership and the leadership team, contributing to both the strategic direction and day-to-day financial management of the group. This role calls for a practical, engaged leader who is equally comfortable rolling up their sleeves to support core accounting and reporting functions.
