We are a growing professional services firm in the Comox Valley. We are looking for an experienced, detail-oriented Bookkeeper who is passionate about helping businesses succeed through accurate financial records and exceptional client service.
This is a unique opportunity to work in a collaborative office where you will manage the bookkeeping for our own practice while also providing bookkeeping services to a portfolio of business clients.
About the Role
As our Bookkeeper, you will be responsible for maintaining the firm's financial records and supporting a growing roster of bookkeeping clients. You will work closely with our team and will have the opportunity to build trusted relationships with clients.
This position offers variety, responsibility, and the opportunity to grow alongside an expanding professional practice.
Responsibilities
Internal Bookkeeping
- Maintain the firm's accounting records
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Reconcile bank, credit card, and trust accounts
- Process payroll
- Prepare GST, PST, payroll remittances, and other statutory filings
- Produce monthly financial reports
- Support year-end preparation
Client Bookkeeping
You will manage bookkeeping for a portfolio of small business clients, including:
- Recording day-to-day transactions
- Bank and credit card reconciliations
- Preparing monthly financial statements
- GST and PST filings
- Payroll processing
- Accounts payable and receivable management
- Year-end file preparation for tax engagements
- Communicating directly with clients regarding bookkeeping matters
- Identifying opportunities to improve clients' bookkeeping systems and processes
Qualifications
- Diploma or certificate in Accounting or Bookkeeping, or equivalent experience
- Minimum 3 years of full-cycle bookkeeping experience
- Experience managing bookkeeping for multiple businesses
- Strong understanding of Canadian accounting principles
- Experience with GST, payroll, and source deductions
- Advanced knowledge of QuickBooks Online
- Strong Excel skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Exceptional attention to detail
Assets
Experience with one or more of:
- Xero
- Sage
- Professional services firms
- Legal or trust accounting

Pay: $55,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
