At BC Children’s Hospital Foundation, we’re on a quest to ensure every kid in the province receives the best health care imaginable. As a fundraising organization, we inspire communities and people to support BC Children’s Hospital, along with its world-class research institute, mental health facility and rehabilitation center.
Our work makes a profound difference. From helping get the boldest research ideas off the ground to supporting the most advanced equipment, together we are pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in children’s health care. This is no small task—which is why we’re looking for passionate people to join our team and help propel our work forward to power the possible.
We’re looking for a Manager, Marketing to help lead the campaigns and storytelling that connect people to the impact of BC Children’s Hospital.
Reporting to the Director, Marketing & Communications, you’ll be the person who keeps people, plans and priorities moving in the same direction across an evolving portfolio of integrated marketing initiatives. Some days that means shaping strategy; other days it means rolling up your sleeves to get a campaign out the door. You’re comfortable with both.
You understand that effective marketing and communications work is both strategic and deeply human. It takes thoughtful storytelling, strong partnerships and judgement that balances data with instinct.
More specifically, you’ll be responsible for:
- Partner with the Director and cross-functional teams to shape annual marketing strategy and lead integrated campaigns and initiatives.
- Ensure marketing aligns with organizational priorities, our brand and audience needs.
- Champion consistent, audience-centred storytelling across campaigns and channels.
- Manage, coach and develop direct reports - helping them grow and do work they’re proud of.
- Set priorities and provide day-to-day direction, partnering with Marketing on planning and delivery.
- Build trusted relationships with partners inside and outside the Foundation.
- Bring teams together around shared priorities.
- Lead integrated campaigns from planning through execution.
- Translate strategy into actionable plans, briefs and deliverables.
- Set KPIs and use insights to sharpen campaign performance.
- Partner with the Production Manager to improve planning processes and how teams work together.
- Develop marketing plans and reporting that show what the work achieved.
We understand that no single candidate will perfectly meet all the qualifications outlined for this job posting—and that’s okay. The following highlights the qualifications we consider most important.
You bring sound judgment, curiosity, empathy and accountability to your work. You’re comfortable with ambiguity and competing priorities, and you create clarity and momentum in fast-paced environments.
You work well in partnership with others and build trust across teams. You care about how the work comes together, not just the work itself, and you’re good at bringing people, priorities and ideas into alignment.
In addition, you bring:
- A diploma or degree in marketing, communications, journalism, public relations, business or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5-7 years of experience leading integrated marketing, communications, campaign management or related fields.
- Experience leading and coaching people, and a track record of helping them grow.
- Comfort steering complex projects with many voices at the table and timelines that move.
- Confidence using data to shape recommendations and measure what’s working.
- The planning and organizational skills to keep several campaigns moving at once without losing the bigger picture.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage effectively across teams and levels of the organization.
- An understanding of fundraising, nonprofit, healthcare or purpose-driven organizations is considered an asset.
- Experience collaborating with creative and media agencies, media partners or external vendors is an asset
- An affinity for our values - Think Big, Step Up and Lead with Heart.
