We are looking for a Health and Safety Coordinator to support safe work practices across operations in Ontario. This role is suited to a hands-on, detail-oriented individual who can promote compliance, strengthen safety culture, and work closely with employees and leaders in active industrial or construction environments. The successful candidate will help drive inspections, training, investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives while balancing multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
Responsibilities :
- Lead site-level health and safety activities by monitoring workplace conditions and encouraging adherence to legislative and company safety requirements.
- Conduct inspections, audits, and hazard assessments, then follow through on corrective actions to reduce risk and improve overall safety performance.
- Coordinate incident reporting and investigations, identify root causes, and recommend practical measures to prevent recurrence.
- Deliver safety orientations, toolbox talks, and training sessions that build awareness and reinforce safe work behaviours across the workforce.
- Partner with supervisors, employees, and other stakeholders to address compliance issues and promote consistent application of safety procedures.
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation related to inspections, training, incidents, and audit findings.
- Support certification, audit preparation, and ongoing compliance efforts within established health and safety programs and standards.
- Travel between sites as needed to provide on-site guidance, assess conditions, and respond to operational safety priorities.
- Post-secondary education in occupational health and safety or a related discipline, or progress toward a relevant diploma or certificate.
- COR audit experience is strongly desired.
- At least 3 years of experience in a health and safety role, with exposure to industrial, manufacturing, or construction settings; construction experience is preferred.
- Strong understanding of health and safety legislation, compliance practices, incident investigation, root cause analysis, and workplace auditing.
- Demonstrated ability to influence safe behaviour, communicate effectively with all levels of an organization, and deliver clear training presentations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel regularly between sites and work outside standard business hours when required.
- Well-developed organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities, adapt to changing conditions, and work effectively in ambiguous environments.
- Experience in unionized or multi-site operations, along with safety certification auditing exposure or a related designation, would be considered an asset.
