About Hemlock Valley Utilities
Hemlock Utility Services provides water, wastewater, and hydroelectric services to the Hemlock Valley and Sasquatch Mountain Resort community. Operating in a remote mountain environment, the utility delivers essential services that support public health, environmental protection, and community growth.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a dependable and mechanically capable individual to support daily utility operations. This is a hands-on role working across water, wastewater, and hydroelectric systems.
This position is best suited for someone who is self-motivated, takes ownership of their work, and is comfortable working independently in a field environment.
Key Responsibilities and Expectations

Support the daily operation of water, wastewater, and electrical systems

Complete routine inspections, system checks, and preventative maintenance

Collect samples and record system data accurately and consistently

Confirm system conditions through observation and measurement

Identify, verify, and report system issues or irregular conditions promptly

Operate equipment such as loaders, excavators, and service vehicles

Assist with repairs, installations, and general utility and construction work

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe worksite

Follow all safety procedures and operational requirements

Complete assigned tasks fully, including required documentation

Contribute to all aspects of utility operations as required
Qualifications

High school diploma; additional training or education is an asset

Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to grow in municipal utility operations

Experience operating equipment is an asset

Experience in construction, plumbing, or electrical work is an asset

Basic computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Valid BC Driver’s License

Excellent organizational and communication skills

Outdoor work in all weather conditions

Physically active role including lifting and manual work

Exposure to equipment, construction sites, and treatment facilities

Participation in a on-call rotation for emergency response

Strong mechanical aptitude and desire to grow in municipal utility operations

$27–$30 per hour (based on experience)
