Job Summary
The Landscape Foreman leads field crews in the installation, maintenance, and enhancement of outdoor spaces. This role is responsible for organizing daily work, assigning tasks, monitoring quality, ensuring safe work practices, and keeping projects on schedule and within scope. The ideal candidate combines strong hands-on landscaping experience with leadership, horticultural knowledge, equipment familiarity, and the ability to communicate effectively with clients, suppliers, and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
· Supervise and coordinate daily activities of landscape crew members across installation and maintenance projects.
· Review work orders, site plans, drawings, and specifications to ensure accurate project execution.
· Assign tasks, set priorities, and monitor productivity to meet project deadlines and service standards.
· Oversee landscape installation activities such as grading, soil preparation, planting, mulching, sod placement, irrigation support, and hardscape work including patios, walkways, retaining walls, decks, and fences where applicable.
· Direct landscape maintenance activities such as mowing, trimming, edging, pruning, weeding, fertilizing, seasonal clean-ups, and plant health monitoring.
· Conduct site inspections to verify workmanship, appearance, plant quality, and compliance with company and client expectations.
· Ensure crew members follow all safety procedures, use personal protective equipment properly, and operate tools and machinery safely.
· Operate and oversee the use of trucks, trailers, mowers, trimmers, blowers, compact equipment, hand tools, and other landscaping equipment.
· Coordinate materials, equipment, and labour requirements for each job and communicate shortages or delays promptly.
· Maintain accurate records related to labour hours, materials used, equipment issues, job progress, and incidents.
· Train new and existing employees on work methods, safety practices, equipment handling, and quality standards.
· Communicate professionally with clients on-site, provide progress updates, and escalate issues or change requests to management when needed.
· Troubleshoot site problems such as weather disruptions, plant health concerns, access limitations, equipment breakdowns, and scope changes.
· Support estimating, planning, and job costing by providing field input on labour, materials, and time requirements.
· Assist with seasonal services such as snow removal, spring start-ups, fall shut-downs, and winter property care if required.
Required Qualifications
· High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in horticulture, landscaping, construction, or a related field is an asset.
· 3+ years of hands-on landscaping experience, including experience in a crew lead, supervisor, or foreman capacity.
· Strong working knowledge of plant materials, soil preparation, turf care, irrigation basics, and seasonal landscape practices.
· Experience reading site plans, layouts, and work instructions.
· Valid driver’s license required; clean driving abstract may be required.
· Ability to operate landscape tools, trucks, trailers, and equipment safely and efficiently.
· Knowledge of applicable health and safety standards and safe job site procedures.
· Pesticide or chemical application certification may be required depending on the employer and provincial regulations.
· Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements
· Regular outdoor work in heat, cold, rain, wind, and changing seasonal conditions.

· Ability to lift heavy materials and use power equipment for extended periods.
· Early morning starts, overtime, and weekend work may be required during peak season.
· Exposure to noise, dust, mud, uneven terrain, chemicals, and other common job site conditions.

Pay: $24.00-$32.00 per hour
Work Location: In person
