The Role
The Registered Practical Nurse (RPN)/ Registered Nurse (RN) is a core member of the Field Trip Health clinic team. This role blends direct clinical care with clinic operations and administrative leadership, supporting seamless client flow and exceptional standards of care.
The position is approximately 50% administrative / clinic operations and 50% nursing care, reflecting the integrated nature of how our clinics function.
Clinical Responsibilities
- Conduct client check-ins, clinical screening, and routine assessments (including vitals and mental status observations).
- Obtain and document detailed health histories and relevant clinical information.
- Administer medications via intramuscular injection in accordance with physician or nurse practitioner orders and clinic protocols.
- Support in-clinic sessions by monitoring client safety, comfort, and clinical response.
- Provide appropriate crisis response and escalation when required.
- Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients regarding care processes and expectations.
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Participate in ongoing training to meet all credentialing, certification, and quality standards.
Clinic Operations & Administrative Responsibilities
- Act as a consistent, professional front-of-house presence for clients.
- Coordinate scheduling, client communications, and appointment logistics.
- Answer phones, manage emails, and route inquiries appropriately.
- Prepare intake materials, information packages, and payment plans.
- Process payments and support billing workflows.
- Contribute to daily clinic reporting and operational readiness.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and provide input on clinic policies and procedures.
- Support overall clinic flow to ensure nurses, clinicians, and therapists can work at top-of-scope.
Qualifications & Experience
- Registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
- Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
- 1+ year of nursing experience; experience in mental health, outpatient clinics, or complex care settings is a strong asset.
- Comfortable working in a structured, protocol-driven clinical environment.
- Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills.
- Calm, professional presence with excellent judgment and attention to detail.
- Looking for approximately 8 hours a week.
