We don’t just manage waste; we rethink how industry handles it.
At Pure Environmental we’re building world-class facilities, meeting the highest of industry standards, for the energy and industrial sectors. From geothermal waste cavern facilities to engineered landfills, our work supports operations across the full lifecycle—from exploration to end of life.
Who We Are
We’re a team built on experience, but we don’t just operate on the status-quo.
We’ve spent decades in environmental and energy services, and we’ve seen what works (and what doesn’t). That’s why we do things simply, safely, and properly, with a strong focus on innovation and critical thinking.
We operate in markets that are often underserved, where dependable infrastructure is critical. Our facilities are designed to provide the systems and support these markets actually need, not just check boxes.
At Pure, our employees take ownership. We look out for each other, and we take pride in running clean, compliant, and well-managed operations.
If you like straightforward work, a strong team, and a place where your judgment is trusted, you’ll fit in well.
Our Values
How we work matters as much as what we achieve. Our values shape our culture and guide our decisions:
- Building Empowered Leaders. We encourage ownership, initiative, and leadership at every level.
- Integrity. We act with honesty, accountability, and do what’s right.
- Growth & Innovation. We stay curious, continuously improve, and embrace new ideas.
- Open & Honest Communication. We value transparency, direct feedback, and respectful dialogue.
This role isn’t about “just operating equipment.”
It’s about owning the landfill operation.
As a Landfill Operator, you’ll play a key role in the day-to-day operation of our Cold Lake landfill facility making sure waste is managed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with approvals and operating standards. You’ll work closely with truck drivers, customers, contractors, and the site team while helping maintain a clean, organized, and high-performing operation.
If you’re someone who likes hands-on work, operating equipment, solving problems in real time, and being trusted to take ownership — this is your kind of role.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Operate landfill equipment safely and efficiently, including dozers, loaders, and compactors
- Manage waste placement, grading, and daily landfill operations to maintain site integrity and compliance
- Understand the Regulatory and Operating Approvals as they pertain to our facility including well classification and materials that can and cannot be accepted at the facility.
- Track and document waste volumes, load information, and daily operational activities accurately
- Maintain haul roads, working faces, and general site housekeeping to a high standard
- Support customers, drivers, and contractors on-site with safe and efficient site access and logistics
- Perform routine equipment inspections and basic maintenance coordination
- Issue Safe Work Permits and ensure work is completed safely
- Know, understand and follow the ERP, operate in a safe manner as per the Health and Safety Manuel and understand Environmental and Regulatory compliance and ensure the facility operates within compliance.
- Ensure all landfill activities are conducted in accordance with environmental regulations, facility approvals, and company safety standards
- Identify hazards, report incidents, and take action when something isn’t right
- Participate in safety meetings, inspections, and compliance audits while promoting a strong safety culture across the site
- Keep SOPs up to date — and improve them when you see a better way
- Handle day-to-day admin (ticketing, data entry, reporting) without letting things slip
- Other duties as assigned
What Makes You a Great Fit
You’re someone who takes ownership, not someone who waits to be told what to do. You also:
- Have experience operating heavy equipment in landfill, construction, oilfield, or industrial environments
- Are confident operating dozers, loaders, compactors, or other heavy equipment safely and efficiently
- Understand that safety and compliance aren’t optional — they’re the job
- Can balance hands-on work with admin tasks and documentation
- Communicate clearly and work well with both customers and teammates
- Stay sharp and reliable, even on long shifts
- Take pride in doing things properly, not just quickly
