Location - This role is hybrid with a mix of remote and in-person. Work primarily takes place at North Campus, Edmonton.
Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) is a set of processes, software and strategies designed to help the University plan, budget, forecast and report on business performance. Under the general supervision of the Director, Institutional Financial Planning the Functional Analyst works closely with and reports to the Manager, EPM Application in providing operational support to the institution’s EPM system. This position will be a subject matter expert for the EMP system and a key resource in the phased implementation and ongoing enhancement of the system. With a strong background in institutional financial planning the Functional Analyst will be responsible for administration, configuration and maintenance of the EPM system as well as documentation of related artifacts and processes.
As a subject matter expert, the incumbent will also play an integral role in delivering training and education on leading practices within integrated budget planning. Responsibilities will include direct end-user support for the system, front line communications and responsibilities for raising awareness of budget planning.
In addition to the ongoing support of budget planning activities and system maintenance, the Functional Analyst will work consultatively with the Finance Partner Network and others throughout the university to ensure continual improvement of system functionality. As such, having a background with financial planning is critical.
Finance, Procurement and Planning is responsible for financial reporting, resource planning, procurement, investments & treasury, and risk management & insurance. We have a team of service partners who work closely with the faculties, units and staff across the institution to provide excellent client service.
EPM Support and Training (40%)

Be a subject matter expert for the EPM system.

Coordinates system support for end-users: acts as a front line for troubleshooting issues.

Support ongoing maintenance and development of budget processes and procedures, ensuring these are communicated and available to impacted parties and senior administration.

Co-lead delivery of end-user training, both those related to system functionality and on financial planning processes.
-
Ongoing education and support of users to ensure awareness of budget processes and system functionality.
-
Maintain and develop EPM system documentation, including training materials, budget planning processes and system administration guides.
-
Evaluation of user comments to inform analysis as to whether the system continues to meet the budgeting needs of users. Deficiencies will be noted as areas for future system upgrades and enhancements.
EPM Development and Maintenance (40%)
-
Support the preparation of the system for institutional budget planning and forecasting.
-
Maintain structural alignment of the EMP system with enterprise systems (PeopleSoft Financial, HCM and the Data Warehouse), e.g. PeopleSoft trees and chart of accounts.

Maintain data integration and integrity with PeopleSoft.
-
Preparation of EMP versions for institutional budgeting and forecasting.
-
Maintain, refresh and validate data roll-ups and ensure loaded data is complete and accurate.

Support EPM data modeling, including account hierarchies which influence reporting roll-ups.

Maintain and validate system security, data security and user access.
-
Maintain, revise or develop forms and reports for the EMP system.

Review and test software upgrades, patches and fixes for compatibility and/or implications to the EPM environment.
Institutional Budget Planning (10% - 15%)

Support institutional fiscal estimates within the EMP system.

Analysis on institutional revenues and expenditures, such as tuition, grant, salaries, etc.

Validation of submissions and consolidated statements in the EPM system.

Utilization of EPM forecasts to inform quarterly institutional analysis.
Support of Integrated Institutional Initiatives (5% - 10%)

Expected/ongoing areas include, but not limited to:

Leading practices in planning and budgeting

Institutional reporting strategy

Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g. management information systems, finance or computing science).

Three to five years’ experience in a functional area such as planning and budgeting, financial management or business intelligence (financial).

Sound knowledge of budgeting concepts/principles, and experience with budgeting, forecasting and/or financial planning. Post-secondary experience is an asset.

Forward thinker with strong analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills, both quantitative and qualitative.

Proficiency and technical knowledge in maintaining an enterprise application. Experience with OneStream is an asset.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to develop strong collaborative relationships with individuals at varying levels and functions within the organization.

Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication (oral & written) skills.

Excellent time management skills with ability to work within timelines and on concurrent projects.

Highly organized, forward thinker, with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
