Job Overview:
The Dishwasher at Utamami is an essential part of our kitchen team, ensuring that every station has the tools, equipment and cleanliness to deliver a flawless guest experience. This role requires reliability, efficiency, and a positive attitude, helping to maintain the high standards that dine our restaurant.
Job Requirements:
- Wash, sanitize and properly store all dishes, utensils, cookware and equipment according to health and safety standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized dish area, including sinks, dish machines, drying racks and surrounding floors.
- Assist with garbage, recycling and compost removal in accordance with the restaurant's waste protocols.
- Support general cleanliness including wiping surfaces, sweeping and mopping as needed.
- Ensure that clean tools and equipment are consistently available for cooks and chefs throughout service.
- May need to assist with basic prep tasks delegated by designated manager
- Monitor dish machine performance and report any issues immediately to the Sous Chef or Chef de Cuisine.
- Follow proper storage and labeling practices when handling kitchen items.
- Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to support smooth, efficient service.
- Communicate clearly regarding dish shortages, equipment issues or cleaning needs.
- Maintain a respectful, positive attitude that supports Utamami’s culture and values.
- Knowledge of basic safety and sanitation procedures; Food Handler Certification is an asset.
- Proper handling of cleaning chemicals and adherence to workplace safety protocols
- Wear PPE, such as slip resistant footwear and gloves when necessary
- Reliable, punctual and able to maintain consistent performance during busy periods.
- Strong focus, attention to detail, and pride in maintaining a clean and organized workspace
- Willing to take initiative and help wherever needed

Work Hours:
- Must be available to work an average of 20-44.5 hours weekly.
- Ability to work flexible shifts; days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position requires standing for up to 8 hours per shift, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and climbing all day. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. This position also requires lifting up to 25lbs from floor to waist, waist to shoulder and shoulder to above head. This position also required twisting, turning, and reaching.
