Position Summary
The Houseperson plays an essential role in delivering exceptional experiences for Hollyburn Country Club Members and guests by ensuring event spaces are professionally prepared, maintained, and reset for a wide variety of functions. Reporting to the Plant Engineering team and working closely with Housekeeping and Food & Beverage departments, this position is responsible for the accurate setup and teardown of banquet rooms, meeting spaces, outdoor event areas, and Club facilities. The ideal candidate is dependable, physically capable, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced hospitality environment where flexibility and teamwork are key to success.
Position Responsibilities
- Complete prompt and accurate event setups, room flips, and room resets according to Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), floor plans, and operational requirements.
- Set up and dismantle tables, chairs, staging, linens, décor, signage, dance floors, and audio-visual equipment for Club events and functions.
- Ensure banquet rooms, meeting spaces, outdoor venues, storage areas, and service corridors are clean, organized, and presentation-ready at all times.
- Support banquet and event operations during functions, including responding to room changes, last-minute requests, and setup adjustments.
- Assist with receiving, transporting, organizing, and storing banquet equipment, event supplies, furniture, and operational materials.
- Perform routine outdoor maintenance duties, including snow removal, patio setup and teardown, furniture placement, and general grounds housekeeping.
- Assist the Engineering department with operational and facility-related tasks as required.
- Conduct regular inspections of event spaces and equipment, reporting maintenance, safety, or operational concerns to the appropriate department.
- Follow all workplace health and safety procedures, including safe lifting, equipment handling, and hazard prevention practices.
- Provide professional, courteous, and responsive service to Members, guests, staff, and vendors.
- Support the Club's commitment to hospitality excellence by contributing to a positive, team-oriented work environment.
- Work closely with the Housekeeping team to coordinate room readiness, maintain presentation standards, and ensure event spaces are clean, properly stocked, and guest-ready throughout all phases of event setup and execution.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience in banquet operations, event setup, hospitality, housekeeping, janitorial services, facilities maintenance, or a related environment is considered an asset.
- Experience operating or setting up basic audio-visual equipment is considered an asset.
- Ability to safely lift, carry, push, and move up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Comfortable performing physically demanding work, including prolonged standing, walking, bending, lifting, and working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively within tight event timelines.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a commitment to delivering exceptional Member and guest experiences.
- Flexible availability to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events as required.

Working Conditions
- This position operates 100% on-site
- Regular evenings or weekend work will be required
- Own transportation is an asset as public transportation is not frequent to/from the Club
- Candidates must agree to complete a Police Information Check as part of the onboarding process
