Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated culinary professional to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food preparation and a desire to excel in the culinary industry. Reporting to the General Manager of the Residence, the DCS will lead the culinary team Front of House and Back of House operations. The DCS will be responsible for all aspects of the culinary department including: Ording, Menu planning, Special events, Resident communication and Resident satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook delicious and visually appealing meals
-Responsible for all front of house operations, staffing and scheduling.
-Responsible for all Food and Beverage operations including prep, menu planning, tasking of staff, steps of service and licencing requirement.
- Daily ordering of food, beverage, dry goods, paper supplies.
- Manage Resident food PRD budgets using the Culinary Journal.
- Create additional revenue streams for the culinary department.
- Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation guidelines are always met or exceeded.
- Responsible for maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment and adhering to all Ministry of Health requirements at all times.
- Maintain all RHRA requirements
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to provide excellent service to our Residents
- Design weekly menus
- Recruitment of all Front of House and Back of House team members including onboarding and training.
- Manage the front of house and back of house teams day to day (Scheduling, tasking, accountability)
- Facilitate special events for the Residents (Mother's day/Holidays/Celebrations/Brunches etc..)
-Inventory management
- Help with inventory management and ordering supplies as needed
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a restaurant or culinary environment is required
- Red Seal certification is required for this position
- Foundational understanding of Food service operations
- 2-3 Years of leadership or management of kitchen operations in Retirement is preferred
- Knowledge of food handling procedures and meal preparation techniques
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen setting
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Willingness to learn and grow in the food service industry

Pay: $70,000.00-$75,000.00 per year

Schedule:
- 8-hour shifts
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed (including Manager on Duty rotations)
Education: Secondary School (preferred)
Experience: Cooking: Minimum 5 years (required)
Red Seal Required
Language: English (preferred)
Licence/Certification: Food Handler Certification (required)
