Job Summary
Meridian Housing Foundation is seeking a skilled and proactive General Maintenance Worker to perform a wide range of maintenance tasks across our facilities. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining operational excellence while supporting safety standards across the facility.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Performs minor and major repair of all buildings and equipment.
- Conducts daily operations readings.
- Performs maintenance inspections of all suites.
- Inspects and troubleshoots service calls to assess requirements and task details such as material, time, specializations, and whether outside contractors are required.
- Maintains building exteriors and interiors, including furniture.
- Prepare units for resident moves (in/out) including room inspections.
- Monitors tool, appliance, and fixed asset inventories; receives and stores supplies.
- Assists with the renovations and remodelling.
- Installs appliances and equipment.
- Responds to emergency maintenance requests as required.
Skills
- Experience in building maintenance systems including basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general repairs; ability to perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate repairs to ensure safe and efficient building operations.
- Trade, apprentice or building operator ticket is an asset.
- Understanding of safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
Working conditions
- This position requires regular travel to Meridian Housing Foundation properties located throughout the tri-region area and Wabamun.
- Valid Driver’s license and a Driver’s Abstract in good standing.
- Duties are performed in residential housing environments and may involve working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to endure frequent periods of walking, standing, kneeling, crouching and reaching with hands and arms; Ability to lift and/or move heavy objects.
- Monday to Friday schedule, 7:30 am - 4: 00 pm, with participation in an on-call rotation to respond to maintenance needs during evenings and weekends as required.
