The Sheldon M Chumir Health Centre provides a wide range of health services to residents living in and around the Calgary Core, including 24 hour Urgent Care, Public Health, Home Care and Mental Health. The laboratory plays a key role in the interdisciplinary team within the hospital and community. As a member of the interdisciplinary team this position reporting to the Clinical Supervisor or Manager, and under the direction of the Health Centre Technologist II, the MLT will be responsible for providing exemplary patient care by applying the regional policies and procedures. The scope of practice is a continuum ranging from basic to highly complex procedures and activities within the laboratory department. Employees shall maintain confidentiality of all APL/AHS information in accordance with HIA, FOIP and other privacy legislation in effect and shall comply at all times with APL/AHS’s information privacy and information security policies.
As a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) I, you will be responsible for the daily processing, testing, results analysis and reporting of diagnostic samples within the laboratory department. You will perform a variety of routine and specialized procedures in the processing of specimens used in diagnosis, treatment and research.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Proven ability to work within a computer-based environment using programs including Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint and OneDrive. Experience in core laboratory theory including hematology, chemistry, coagulation, urinalysis, and transfusion medicine dispense. Experience in reading manual differentials. Current experience in Hematology and Chemistry within the last 2 years.
Preferred Qualifications:
2-year experience in an Urgent Centre Testing area, Rapid Response Lab or Rural Lab. Connect Care training including Beaker and WellSky TM non-testing Technologist
