- 20 wheelchair and scooter users. Attendees might require assistance with emptying colostomy/catheter bags
Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Support Worker (PSW) to provide exceptional care and assistance to individuals in need of support in various settings, including assisted living facilities, nursing homes, and for special assignments. Responsibilities
- Assist clients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility to promote comfort and independence
- Support clients with medication administration following prescribed schedules and safety protocols
- Prepare nutritious meals aligned with dietary restrictions and preferences, ensuring proper hygiene and safety standards
- Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance clients’ mental health and overall quality of life
- Perform light cleaning duties to maintain a safe, hygienic living environment
- Monitor clients’ health status, report changes or concerns promptly to healthcare professionals or family members
- Assist with mobility and transfers using proper techniques to prevent injury for both client and caregiver
Experience
- Prior experience working in assisted living settings or nursing homes is highly desirable
- Proven caregiving experience with seniors or individuals with disabilities
- Familiarity with dementia care strategies and techniques for supporting clients with cognitive impairments
- Experience in medication administration and basic health monitoring
- Knowledge of home care practices including meal preparation, cleaning, and personal hygiene support
- Strong communication skills combined with a caring attitude and patience are essential for success in this role
