CNC Boring Mill Operator
Egar Tool & Die Ltd. is seeking an experienced Boring Mill Operator to join our manufacturing team. This position is responsible for setting up and operating CNC boring mills to machine large, complex, and precision components used in automotive tooling and production equipment. The successful candidate will be capable of working independently from engineering drawings, maintaining close tolerances, and ensuring parts meet quality and customer specifications.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC boring mills to machine large steel and fabricated components.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, and work instructions.
- Select and install appropriate tooling, fixtures, and workholding devices.
- Perform machine setups, tool offsets, and program adjustments as required.
- Verify dimensions using precision measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, dial indicators, and height gauges.
- Perform in-process and final inspections to ensure parts meet specified tolerances.
- Monitor machine performance and adjust feeds, speeds, and tooling to optimize quality and productivity.
- Work closely with programmers, supervisors, and quality personnel to resolve machining issues.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with company safety standards.
- Complete production and quality documentation as required.
- Conduct routine machine maintenance and report equipment concerns.
Qualifications
- Graduate of CNC tech program at an accredited Canadian college.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience operating CNC boring mills or similar large machining equipment.
- Strong understanding of machining principles, tooling, cutting parameters, and setup techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings and specifications.
- Experience working with large precision components and tight tolerances.
- Proficiency using precision measuring instruments.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Previous experience in a tool & die, automotive, or custom manufacturing environment is considered an asset.

Salary information: Competitive wage based on experience
