JOB SUMMARY:
Atrium Hotel Vancouver is seeking a temporary Maintenance/Building Manager to lead our in house Maintenance Department to cover for a 3 month medical leave.
The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for taking the lead in coordinating with contractors and ensuring that we have a strong plan going forward to look after our newly refreshed space. They will also be responsible for for guiding, coaching, and directing the maintenance staff in their day-to-day work.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

-Coordinating & liaising with contractors and external vendors responsible for maintenance & renovation work being completed throughout the property.
· Supervising maintenance staff: Responsible for managing a team of maintenance personnel, assigning tasks, and ensuring that all work is completed on time and to the required standards.
· Conducting regular inspections: Perform routine inspections of the hotel facilities to identify any maintenance issues or safety hazards. This includes checking plumbing systems, electrical systems, HVAC units, and other equipment.
· Responding to maintenance requests: Handles incoming maintenance requests from guests, staff, or other departments. They prioritize these requests based on urgency and allocate resources accordingly.
· Planning and scheduling preventative maintenance: Develop and implement a preventative maintenance program to ensure that all equipment and systems are regularly serviced and maintained to prevent breakdowns and costly repairs.
· Managing maintenance budget: Responsible for tracking expenses related to maintenance operations and managing the maintenance budget effectively. Will work with vendors and suppliers to negotiate contracts and ensure cost-effective solutions.
· Ordering and inventory management: Oversee the procurement of maintenance supplies and equipment, ensuring that inventory levels are maintained and that necessary items are always available.
· Training and development: Provides training and guidance to maintenance staff, ensuring that they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their tasks effectively and safely.
· Liaising with other departments: Collaborate with other departments, such as housekeeping, front desk, and engineering, to coordinate maintenance activities and minimize disruption to guests.
· Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations: Ensures that all maintenance activities comply with health and safety regulations and hotel policies.
· Keeping records: Maintain records of maintenance activities, including work orders, inspections, and repairs. Will also prepare reports on maintenance performance and present them to management.
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
· Minimum of 5 years' supervisory experience.
· Brings a “hands on” approach to the role with regards to property maintenance with a strong level of initiative required.
· Knowledgeable in all regulations such as building codes, fire and health department requirements, etc.
· Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
· Highly organized, results oriented with the ability to be flexible and to work well under pressure.
· Strong technical abilities with MS Suite & familiarization with computerized maintenance systems an asset.
· Leads by example by displaying a high standard of performance with the ability to communicate these expectations to the team to achieve results.
· Must be highly safety conscious and actively involved in maintaining a safe work environment throughout the hotel.
· Must be available on evenings and weekends to respond to emergency requests.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $28.00-$34.00 per hour
