AGP LLP is a boutique criminal defence firm in the heart of Ottawa. We are looking for a skilled and personable legal assistant to join our growing team — someone who takes pride in delivering exceptional client service and keeping a dynamic legal office running smoothly.
What you'll do
- Welcome clients and visitors with professionalism and warmth, serving as the first point of contact for the firm.
- Manage incoming calls, correspondence, emails, couriers, faxes, and mail, ensuring timely and accurate communication.
- Maintain an up-to-date electronic client database, including court dates and scheduled meetings.
- File legal documents, memoranda, and correspondence under lawyer supervision.
- Open and organize client files as directed, ensuring ease of access and proper record-keeping.
- Liaise with court services to obtain documents or information as required.
- Support general office operations including photocopying, scanning, filing, errands, and maintaining a tidy workspace.
What we're looking for
EXPERIENCE
0–5 years in a legal, administrative, or professional services setting
TECHNOLOGY
Intermediate–advanced Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat
COMMUNICATION
Excellent verbal and written English; comfortable interacting with clients and colleagues
SOFT SKILLS
Strong organization, time management, problem-solving, and adaptability under pressure
