Project Coordinator

About Our Client
Our client is a growing industrial construction and design-build organization delivering complex projects across a range of sectors. Their work brings together multiple disciplines, including civil and concrete construction, structural steel, fabric building systems, mechanical equipment and systems, and electrical controls.
This is an exciting opportunity for a construction professional who wants to build their project management career while gaining exposure to a wide variety of industrial and design-build projects. The successful candidate will work closely with project managers, subcontractors, suppliers, trades, and clients while developing a strong understanding of the full project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
As the Project Coordinator, you will support the successful delivery of industrial and design-build construction projects by coordinating project information, documentation, procurement, schedules, and communication across multiple disciplines.
Project Coordination
- Coordinate day-to-day project activities and ensure information is communicated effectively between project managers, subcontractors, suppliers, trades, and other stakeholders.
- Support multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining accurate records and keeping priorities organized.
- Monitor project schedules and follow up on outstanding items to help ensure work progresses according to plan.
- Assist project managers with tracking project milestones, deliverables, and upcoming requirements.
Documentation & Project Administration
- Maintain project documentation, including drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, correspondence, meeting minutes, and project reports.
- Coordinate the preparation, submission, and tracking of RFIs and other project documentation.
- Assist with document control to ensure project teams are working from current and accurate information.
- Prepare regular project updates and reports for internal teams and project stakeholders.
Procurement & Subcontractor Coordination
- Track procurement activities and follow up with suppliers to ensure materials and equipment are available when required.
- Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers regarding schedules, documentation, deliveries, and project requirements.
- Help identify potential delays or coordination issues and communicate them to the project team proactively.
- Support the project team in coordinating the interaction between civil, concrete, structural steel, fabric, mechanical, and electrical scopes.
Construction & Project Support
- Review construction drawings and specifications to understand project requirements and identify potential coordination issues.
- Attend project meetings and document key decisions, action items, and follow-up requirements.
- Work closely with project managers and field teams to help resolve issues and maintain project momentum.
- Take ownership of assigned tasks and ensure they are completed accurately and within required timelines.
Qualifications
To succeed in this role, candidates should demonstrate:
Education & Experience
- 2–5 years of experience in construction project coordination or a related construction role.
- Experience in industrial, commercial, mining, fabrication, or design-build construction environments is strongly preferred.
- Post-secondary education in construction management, engineering technology, business, or a related discipline is an asset.
Technical Skills
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
- Experience with RFIs, submittals, document control, procurement tracking, and project reporting.
- Familiarity with construction schedules and coordinating multiple trades or subcontractors.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Word.
