Certified Respiratory Educator (CRE) or Respiratory Therapist (RT) 0.6 FTE
An exciting opportunity is now available for a Certified Respiratory Educator/Respiratory Therapist to work as a member of the Haldimand Family Health Team, serving approximately 27,000 patients in Caledonia, Hagersville and Dunnville areas.
As part of the interdisciplinary team, the CRE/RT provides high quality respiratory programs and education in collaboration with patients, families, and care providers. The CRE/RT will deliver a wide range of services including spirometry, asthma/COPD programing, smoking cessation, and group programs. Education, focusing on chronic disease prevention, health promotion and sustainable behaviour change.
This position will require working at all three sites and a reliable vehicle is required.
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline from a recognized university or a combination of education and relevant experience.
- Canadian Network for Respiratory Care (CNRC) certification or Registered Respiratory Therapist certification required
- Current and in good standing registration as a licensed Ontario regulated healthcare professional and current evidence of liability insurance required
- Completion the RESPTREC® Spirometry/Spirometry Refresher course (Standardization of Spirometry 2019 Update)
- Preference will be given to applicants with 3 or more years of clinical experience in asthma/COPD management, treatment, and education
- Ability to accurately and safely perform spirometry testing in accordance with the ATS/ERS standards
- Experience with smoking awareness/cessation strategies required (TEACH/STOP certification preferred)
- Ability to provide effective and accessible education/care to individuals, families, and community groups based on current best practice recommendations
- Understanding of concepts of health promotion, patient education, research, and secondary prevention as a part of primary care
- Experience in program development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation preferred
- Ability to function independently and in a collaborative and interdisciplinary primary health care team.
- Self-directed individual with strong organizational, interpersonal, assessment and prioritization skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and working experience with computer systems and applications. Prior experience and knowledge of OSCAR or an electronic medical record would be an asset.
- Must have own vehicle and valid Ontario driver’s license.

Salary: $44,815.00 - $46,737.00 – dependant on relevant experience
