Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Fiber Optics Testing Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for testing, troubleshooting, and certifying fiber optic networks to ensure they meet performance and quality standards. This position is ideal for someone with strong technical skills and a commitment to safety and accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform testing and certification of fiber optic cables using equipment such as OTDRs, power meters, and light sources
- Interpret and analyze test results to identify faults, signal loss, and performance issues
- Troubleshoot and resolve fiber optic network problems in the field
- Document test results and maintain accurate records and reports
- Ensure installations meet industry standards and customer specifications
- Work closely with installation crews, engineers, and project managers
- Adhere to all safety protocols and company procedures, including working at heights and in confined spaces when required
- Support fiber splicing and installation teams as needed
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or diploma in telecommunications or related field preferred
- Proven experience in fiber optic testing and troubleshooting
- Proficiency with OTDR, fiber identifiers, and optical power meters
- Strong understanding of fiber optic network design and standards
- Ability to read and interpret network diagrams and schematics
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to job sites
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
- FOA (Fiber Optic Association) certification or equivalent
- Experience with both single-mode and multi-mode fiber systems
- Knowledge of splicing techniques and equipment
- Experience working in telecom, construction, or utility environments

Working Conditions
- Field-based role with travel to various job sites

- Occasional overtime or weekend work depending on project demands
Pay: $28.00-$32.00 per hour
