We are looking for a friendly, energetic, and customer-focused Paint & Customer Service Associate who enjoys helping customers complete their projects while delivering an outstanding shopping experience.
Position Summary
This is a dynamic, customer-facing position that combines responsibilities in our Paint Department with Customer Service and general retail support. The successful candidate will assist customers with paint selection, colour matching, product recommendations, and general store inquiries while providing exceptional service throughout the store.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, solving problems, learning new skills, and contributing to a team-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities Paint Department
- Assist customers with selecting paints, stains, primers, and related products.
- Tint paint using computerized colour matching equipment.
- Recommend appropriate products and finishes for customer projects.
- Maintain the paint department by stocking shelves and ensuring merchandise is clean, organized, and well presented.
- Assist with inventory replenishment and merchandising.
Customer Service
- Deliver outstanding customer service to every customer.
- Answer customer questions and provide product recommendations.
- Assist customers throughout the store as needed.
- Process sales transactions accurately when required.
- Handle customer returns and exchanges in accordance with company policies.
- Answer telephone inquiries and direct customers to the appropriate department.
- Support promotional events and seasonal merchandising initiatives.
General Responsibilities
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Assist other departments during busy periods.
- Participate in ongoing product knowledge and safety training.
- Work collaboratively with all team members to provide an exceptional customer experience.
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
- A positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- Previous retail or customer service experience.
- Paint knowledge or a willingness to learn paint products and colour matching.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Basic computer skills and the ability to learn point-of-sale systems.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- The ability to lift up to 50 lbs safely.
- Flexibility to work weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Preferred Experience
Preference will be given to candidates with experience in:
- Paint products, decorating, or colour matching.
- Retail hardware, home improvement, or building materials.
- Customer service in a retail environment.
- Paint tinting systems and product recommendations.
- Merchandising and inventory replenishment.
- Point-of-sale (POS) systems and cash handling.
