Overview:
We are looking for an experienced all around carpenter with broad trade experience to manage and complete a mix of residential and commercial jobs in the Ottawa area. We are looking for someone who can work on their own or alongside a crew. An ideal candidate will be someone with passion for their trade and who delivers high quality work.
Duties:
- General knowledge/understanding of construction practices
- Complete carpentry duties, with or without supervision
- Wood framing, carpentry skills, installation of doors, blocking, hardware
- Finish carpentry and millwork installation
- Ability to read blueprints
- Able to adapt to changing client needs and deliver successful results within the project time frame
- Operate a variety of hand and power tools, and other construction equipment
- Arrive on site prepared for work with the tools and PPE necessary to complete required tasks
- Perform detailed daily record keeping and reporting, including records of time, expenses, and materials
- Order materials/equipment for job sites
- Maintain inventory of current and new materials for delivery to job sites
- Foster a positive and professional work environment onsite with trades and team members
- Perform all work in accordance with JT Walsh Contracting's Occupational Health and Safety Policies and promote adherence to Health and Safety requirements to all trades at the job site
- Daily reporting back to JT Walsh Contracting office.
- Exercise an eye for detail and knowledge of construction quality standards
Skills:
- Proficient in using carpentry tools such as saws, drills, and sanders
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Strong attention to detail and precision in measurements and cuts
- Excellent problem-solving skills to overcome construction challenges
- Good physical stamina to handle the demands of the job
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and sub trades onsite
- Possess own set of tools
- Must be confident using a smartphone to access emails and applications
- Must be capable of meeting the following physical demands including, but not limited to lifting or carrying 50 lbs, standing, walking, crouching, kneeling, crawling for extended periods of time
- Must have valid drivers license and own vehicle
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $35.00-$40.00 per hour
