Your Opportunity:
As a member of the Acute@Home (A@H) leadership team, the Assistant Head Nurse (AHN) is responsible for ensuring timely, effective, and well-coordinated care for patients and families referred to A@H from Psychiatric Emergency Services (PES), Psychiatric Assessment Clinic (PAC), Summit Center, and CAAMHPP Inpatient Units. The AHN will provide clinical leadership and serve as a primary resource for A@H staff. The AHN will liaise and collaborate with both internal CAAMHPP and external partners within the Addiction and Mental Health Services. Additionally, the AHN will work in partnership with the ACH PES Nurse Clinician, providing education and mentorship to PES staff regarding assessment and documentation skills required for comprehensive referrals to A@H. This person will foster an environment supporting a culture of continuous improvement and will take a leadership role in promoting quality patient care and implementing operational priorities. Your in-depth knowledge, advanced judgment, and clinical experience will assist in providing solutions for complex healthcare issues at all levels, involving patients, interprofessional teams, administrators, and policy makers. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family-centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of Recovery Alberta.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:
RPN's must have active or be eligible for a practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA) At least 5 years of clinical experience in mental health with at least 2 years working in a leadership or charge nurse role in pediatric/adolescent mental health. Demonstrated understanding of evidence based mental health practices, including the role of such elements as clinical care pathways, protocols, and outcome measures. Demonstrated understanding of family centered care and attachment principles. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills. Demonstrated ability to set and adapt priorities in the face of competing demands. Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and effectively lead a multi-disciplinary team. Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor multi-disciplinary team members. Knowledge of Connect Care and Ambulatory Connect Care workflows is an essential component of this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous AHN experience preferred. Previous mental health outreach experience is preferred. Previous experience working with psychiatric emergency services preferred. Professional certifications related to the specialty of Psychiatric Nursing is preferred.
