About the Role
We are looking for a skilled and enthusiastic Martial Arts Instructor to lead after-school martial arts classes for children and youth. The ideal candidate is passionate about martial arts and enjoys teaching discipline, confidence, respect, focus, and physical fitness in a safe and positive environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead engaging martial arts classes for students of different ages and skill levels.
- Teach fundamental martial arts techniques, movements, forms, and self-defense skills.
- Promote discipline, confidence, respect, teamwork, and personal growth.
- Create structured lesson plans with age-appropriate activities and drills.
- Ensure a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
- Encourage students through positive coaching and feedback.
- Manage class routines, attendance, and equipment organization.
- Communicate professionally with program staff and parents when needed.
Qualifications
- Background in martial arts (e.g., Karate, Taekwondo, Kung Fu, Judo, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, or other disciplines).
- Recognized martial arts rank/certification preferred.
- Previous experience teaching or coaching children is an asset.
- Strong leadership, communication, and classroom management skills.
- Patient, energetic, and responsible.
- First Aid/CPR certification and vulnerable sector screening are assets.
Program Structure & Schedule
- Afterschool Program
- Runs September-June
- Must be available from 3:30 PM onward on weekdays (1-3 times per week)
