Position Summary:
Provide efficient building maintenance and repairs of the facility mainly in carpentry; including, but not limited to technical daily maintenance.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Capable of cutting and measuring timber and lumber to specified measurements.
- Capable of installation/fastening of timbers, lumber, and paneling indoors and outdoors.
- Repair and finishing of designated equipment, partitions and furniture as required.
- Utilize materials and tools in accordance with inventory control procedures.
- Ensure that all meeting rooms, guest rooms and public area furniture and hardware are in proper working order.
- Ensure that work sites are cleaned up after work has been completed, and that work areas are tidy and safe.
- Maintain building equipment and systems in accordance with established preventative maintenance programs.
- Ensure an adequate working environment to the facility’s occupants in terms of ambient temperature, humidity, ventilation, air quality and general cleanliness.
- Respond to emergency situations involving mechanical, electrical and plumbing system failures and assist in taking appropriate corrective action to expedite recovery.
- Assist with keeping property in first-class condition, inside and out.
- Assist security staff in responding to fire and safety hazard situations.
- Install various types of siding including aluminum, wood, and composite siding
- Install and repair moisture barriers, flashing, trim, and fascia to ensure proper weatherproofing and water drainage.
- Snow removal from all property exits, fire hydrants, and walkways including power washing of areas.
- Shifts are governed by business needs which may include (day, afternoon, night, weekend, and holidays).
- The shift duties may also vary from time to time.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Facility Operations or designate.
Qualifications/Experience/Knowledge Required:
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in Carpentry and Siding
- Carpentry license is an asset.
- Safe use of ladders, scaffolding, and fall-protection equipment when working at height on exterior siding jobs.
- Ability to estimate material quantities for siding/carpentry jobs (helps with budgeting and reduces waste)
- Basic knowledge of local building codes related to exterior Experience in carpentry and siding
- Experience in a hotel or large institutional building would be an asset
- Ability to multi-task, balance daily tasks and prioritize among a number of projects, tasks and problems
- Ability to work unsupervised
- Needs to be customer and employee friendly
Working Conditions:
There will be shift duties (day, afternoon, night, holidays and weekends) as governed by business needs. The shift duties may also vary from time to time.

- Meet and exceed essential building services (Customer Service), in accordance with established service level targets.
- Delivery of daily tasks.
- Safety and asset protection.
Physical Demands/Working Conditions:
- Requires frequent physical effort such as lifting and handling of heavy equipment.
- Concentrated attention on equipment being installed, maintained or repaired imposes simultaneous demands on visual, touch and audible senses.
