The Opportunity
The WCHC Foundation is seeking a strategic and community-minded Director, Philanthropy & Development to lead and grow our fundraising efforts.
This is a unique opportunity to build a modern, high-impact fundraising program in a rural health context, deepening relationships with donors, partners, and the community to advance healthcare equity. This role is ideal for a builder, someone excited by the opportunity to shape and grow a developing foundation function with strong organizational support and significant community impact potential.
The Director will be both a strategic leader and hands-on fundraiser, responsible for designing and executing a comprehensive development program, including major gifts, community giving, campaigns, and donor stewardship.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and execute a multi-year fundraising and growth strategy aligned with WCHC priorities
- Identify and pursue new funding opportunities, including major gifts, grants, corporate partnerships, and campaigns
- Provide strategic advice to the CEO and Foundation leadership on philanthropic opportunities
Fundraising & Donor Engagement
- Build and manage a portfolio of major donors and prospects
- Lead all fundraising activities, including annual giving, events, and capital or special campaigns
- Cultivate meaningful relationships with individuals, businesses, and community partners
- Steward donors through personalized engagement and impact reporting
Foundation Operations
- Strengthen Foundation governance, working closely with the Board/Advisory Committee
- Develop systems, processes, and tools to support sustainable fundraising growth
- Oversee donor database and ensure accurate tracking, reporting, and compliance
Communications & Community Engagement
- Collaborate on storytelling and communications that highlight impact and inspire giving
- Act as an ambassador for WCHC and the Foundation in the community
- Increase visibility of the Foundation and its mission across the region
Qualifications
- 5–10+ years of progressive experience in fundraising, development, or philanthropy
- Proven success in major gift development and donor relationship management
- Strong understanding of nonprofit and/or healthcare fundraising environments
- Demonstrated ability to build strategy and execute independently
- Exceptional relationship-building and communication skills
- Experience working with boards, volunteers, and community stakeholders
- Knowledge of rural communities and health equity is a strong asset

Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary of $75,000 to $85,000 per year, with incentive structure to be negotiated
- 4 weeks paid vacation (pro-rated to working status)
- 18 Sick Days per year (pro-rated to working status)
- 10 Professional Development days per year (pro-rated to working status)
