Position Overview
The OnStar Marketing Communications Specialist plays a key role in driving the success of all OnStar and Connected Vehicle Subscription Service projects for GM Canada.
Focused on putting the customer at the centre of everything we do, this role supports the execution of the Canadian Marketing Communications Plan, both short and long term. Reporting to the Connected Services Marketing Communications Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating with internal stakeholders, Adcomm, and agency partners to ensure timely execution of all required projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Support execution of Canadian Go-to-Market Plans for OnStar and Guardian.
- Support all advertising, communication and consumer engagement plans and activities related to the brand.
- Leverage U.S. and Canadian assets and platforms across:
- CRM
- Digital / Website
- Search
- Social
- Broadcast
- Media Planning
- Creative Development
- Influencer Strategy
- Dealer Toolkits
- Strategic Partnerships
- Auto Shows
- Internal and External Communications
- Maintain brand guidelines and legal disclaimer approvals and updates.
- Support planning and execution of regional motor shows and on-ground events.
- Create and maintain project status documentation and legal/brand/product approvals.
- Coordinate Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) communications initiatives.
- Coordinate OnStar.ca website development, content management and approvals.
- Execute internal updates and communications to Dealers, Regions, Field Teams and other stakeholders.
- Attend meetings to discuss and clarify briefs, requirements, timelines and budgets.
- Support the Advertising and Communications team on projects including:
- Global Connect leadership messages
- Creative and media initiatives
- Support development of OnStar Launch Readiness Roadmaps for Canada.
- Manage project timelines and identify key deliverables and dependencies across functions.
- Participate in cross-functional and global OnStar forums and meetings.
- Build strong working relationships with U.S. colleagues and GM Canada teams including VSM, Communications/PR, CCA, Legal and other stakeholders.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Canadian vehicle brand teams.
- Support initiatives related to:
- Canadian privacy and competition legislation
- French language requirements
- Multicultural communication considerations
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of digital marketing, media planning and social media platforms.
- Understanding of regional consumer behaviour and market trends.
- Comfortable working with advanced connectivity technologies.
- Ability to collaborate across agency partners and internal stakeholder groups.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

Qualifications & Experience
- College or University degree in Business, Marketing, Advertising, Communications or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3–5 years of marketing, advertising or agency experience.
- Experience supporting integrated marketing campaigns across multiple channels.
- French language proficiency is an asset but not required.
- Ability to travel occasionally within Canada and the United States.

This role is an 18 month contract, hybrid remote (3 of 5 days in the office)
