Role Overview
The National Sales and Demand Planner Manager leads the commercial sales and demand planning operations connecting Sales, Demand Planning, Supply Chain, Finance, Operations, Innovation, and Commercialization teams. This role owns the bottom-up national sales forecast, customer-level demand cadence, IBP demand inputs at a portfolio planning level, as well as revenue risk/opportunity management.
The role partners closely with provincial boards, corporate account managers, supply chain, operations, sales strategy, and innovation teams to improve forecast accuracy, service levels, inventory productivity, revenue delivery, and profitability.
Role Purpose
- Own the bottom up national forecasting process that translates revenue targets, customer demand, innovation plans, and supply constraints into executable monthly and rolling plans at a portfolio level.
- Provide IBP roll up to the Director of sales, own the demand planning function, ensuring clear assumptions, risk/opportunity tracking, and cross-functional alignment to achieve sales plan.
- Improve forecast accuracy, reduce bias, optimize inventory, and support profitable growth through data-driven planning, and strategic planning.
- Build a consistent planning cadence with provincial boards, and internal stakeholders to improve service level - OTIF.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the national sales forecast across recreational, and innovation channels.
- Develop customer, channel, category, and SKU-level rolling forecasts that align revenue, volume, inventory, and shipment plans.
- Provide a monthly demand portfolio base review with Director – Sales and fulfilment, Supply Chain, Operations, to raise and validate risks, opportunities, and supply optimization.
- Incorporate historical sales, customer forecasts, market trends, POS/depletion signals, inventory positions, order patterns, promotions, launches, and supply constraints into the demand plan.
- Manage the customer planning cadence with provincial boards and key accounts, including OCS, AGLC, SQDC, BCLDB, NSLC, CNB, PEI, and other strategic customers.
- Track revenue budget performance, latest estimates, gap-to-budget risks, incremental opportunities, and recovery plans by customer, channel, category, and SKU/Portfolio.
- Support SKU lifecycle planning, including launch, optimize, rationalize, allocation, post-launch performance, and aged inventory prevention planning.
Core Deliverables and KPIs
- Forecast accuracy, forecast bias, and plan adherence improvement by customer, category, and SKU.
- Revenue budget and latest estimate delivery, including gap-to-budget action plans and recovery tracking.
- IBP cycle completion, decision documentation, and timely escalation of risks and opportunities.
- Customer service metrics including fill rate and On-time delivery (OTIF), inventory availability, reduced aged inventory, and reduced last minute in-market pivots.
- Portfolio performance, including sales, mix, distribution, innovation launch quality, and SKU lifecycle management.
- Inventory productivity, markdown reduction, write-down mitigation, and profitable allocation of constrained or unallocated supply.
Qualifications and Experience
- 3-5+ years of experience in sales planning, demand planning, forecasting, category management, supply chain planning, commercial operations, or a related planning role.
- Experience in CPG, beverage alcohol, cannabis, pharma, retail, manufacturing, or another regulated consumer goods environment is preferred.
- Experience working with provincial boards, key account retailers, or complex customer supply chains is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of IBP/S&OP, demand reviews, annual operating planning, rolling forecasts, revenue planning, forecast accuracy, forecast bias, inventory management, and risk/opportunity management.
- Advanced analytical capability, including Excel, Power BI or Tableau, ERP or demand planning systems, scenario modelling, KPI reporting, and root-cause analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders, communicate complex information clearly, and drive decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, Analytics, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered.
- APICS, IBF, CPIM, CSCP, CPF, or related planning certification is considered an asset.
- Owner’s mindset, high attention to detail, commercial acumen, and a strong bias for action and continuous improvement.
Working Conditions
This hybrid role is based out of any of our locations. Travel and overnight stays may be required from time to time to support customer meetings, planning sessions, market visits, and business needs.
