The City of Mission is seeking an experienced and motivated Engineering Technologist to join our Engineering and Capital Projects Division. This opportunity may be filled at the Engineering Technologist 2 or Engineering Technologist 3 level, depending on the successful candidate’s qualifications, training, and experience, and will be assigned duties and responsibilities accordingly.
Reporting to the Manager of Capital Projects, this position performs skilled technical work related to the planning, development, implementation, and administration of municipal engineering capital projects. The role supports a variety of infrastructure projects, including water, sewer, drainage, roads, pump stations, PRV stations, and diking projects.
Key responsibilities include coordinating consultants and contractors, preparing and administering contract documents, participating in procurement and tendering processes, conducting inspections and site visits, monitoring project budgets and contractor performance, reviewing progress payments, administering utility permits, maintaining project records, and preparing technical reports. The position also supports capital planning and Development Cost Charge programs and works closely with internal departments, consultants, contractors, government agencies, Council, committees, and the public. At the Engineering Technologist 3 level, the successful candidate will take a more senior role in delivering complex projects independently and may provide technical expertise, mentorship, and direction to staff involved in capital project delivery. At the Engineering Technologist 2 level, the successful candidate will perform intermediate technical work on municipal capital projects of moderate complexity, with duties assigned in accordance with the applicable classification.
