The details that Indeed doesn't know:
Drugtown Pharmacy has been an integral part of the central Etobicoke community for more than 65 years and we take our role seriously. If you are interested in contributing to an organization that supports our patients more than working for the bottom line, read on to find out a bit more about Drugtown and your possible role here.
We are looking for a good communicator who can focus on our patients' health and well being. We have a reputation for great customer service and expect any new hire to support keeping that rep. That means really listening to and speaking with our patients. If you don't feel comfortable describing how to insert a dose of Vagifem to a woman or how to time a dose of Cialis to a man you might be better off somewhere else.
The dispensary works with a very experienced assistant full time and then double coverage when necessary. There is plenty of support. You should be comfortable on Kroll, but as a pilot store for them, we are very good at making staff even better.
As part of our regular staffing plan includes a co-op student from the University of Waterloo be prepared to share, teach, listen to, and work with an upcoming future pharmacist. The students can take on roles more significant than an assistant and the questions they ask keep us on our toes and provide a different perspective to any given situation.
Shifts are likely to be a full day from 9-7 but the days of the week are not currently fixed. We could see you here for 2 days or even 4 days a week. It all depends. We are flexible if you are. We can be arrange for consistent days if that works better for the right candidate too. There will be access to a standard medical/dental plan after the probation period for the successful candidate provided a minimum number of hours are reached.
Our store is 3600 square feet and is therefore much bigger than your typical independent pharmacy but smaller than the usual SDM footprint. We keep a decent selection of lots of product lines and again focus on customer service and giving advice so that customers for vitamins or greeting cards are more likely to come back and become patients for prescriptions too. Being out on the floor to help with acne meds, or a knee brace or ..... is a part of the role pharmacist play at Drugtown. The store also sells a large variety of giftware, from baby clothes, to scarves and knic-naks, kitchen ware, and even Lego. This department brings in people who might otherwise pass us by, but then keeps them coming back.
The two partners who run Drugtown are always around, are very approachable, and are very receptive to new ideas, whether it be in workflow, products, or anything you might see as a way to make life easier for yourself and you coworkers. Just speak up, we listen.
We do not have quotas for professional services, but we do offer them where appropriate. Drugtown tries to provide patient care well from t he outset.
We have worked with new grads, internationally or locally trained, in the past, and also with former store owners who were looking for a role with less responsibility but more satisfaction, so whatever your experience, or qualifications if you are a good communicator and eager to see what independent pharmacy can really be like, please apply. Or ask for more information.
We look forward to meeting you.
