SE Design has a career opportunity for an Intermediate Civil Design Technologist in our Sherwood Park, Alberta office.
Position Description:
- We are seeking an intermediate-level civil design technologist with up to 8 years of related experience to support municipal transportation, underground utilities, land development, stormwater management, and other civil infrastructure projects.
- The successful candidate will be confident using AutoCAD Civil 3D, preparing design drawings, developing quantities and tender documents, and coordinating with engineers, project managers, field staff, clients, and approving authorities.
Position Duties:
- Prepare civil engineering drawings, plans, profiles, details, grading plans, servicing plans, cross-sections, and record drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Support the design of municipal roadways, rural roads, site grading, stormwater management systems, water distribution, sanitary sewer, shallow utilities coordination, and related civil infrastructure.
- Develop and manage Civil 3D surfaces, alignments, profiles, corridors, pipe networks, grading objects, and quantity takeoffs.
- Assist engineers and project managers with preliminary design, detailed design, cost estimates, specifications, tender packages, construction documentation, and design revisions.
- Review and interpret survey data, record drawings, design standards, municipal guidelines, utility information, and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate design information with internal project teams, subconsultants, contractors, clients, and approving authorities.
- Complete drawing reviews and quality checks to support accurate, consistent, and constructible project deliverables.
- Provide mentorship and technical support to junior drafting and field staff, as required.
- Participate in the implementation and maintenance of SE Design’s safety program and COR certification.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering, or an equivalent technical program, with up to 8 years of related civil design experience.
- Strong proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, including surfaces, alignments, profiles, corridors, pipe networks, grading tools, plan production, and quantity takeoffs.
- Experience preparing civil design drawings and construction documents for municipal infrastructure, transportation, land development, site servicing, grading, and stormwater projects.
- Ability to interpret survey data, engineering drawings, specifications, design standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple design tasks, deadlines, and project priorities.
- Professional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with engineers, technologists, clients, contractors, and approving authorities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Eligible for registration, or currently registered, with ASET as a C.E.T., P.Tech. (Eng.), or related designation is considered an asset.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a minimum of four (4) years of verified Canadian driving experience.
