Position Title: Dishwasher / Janitor
Reports To: Senior Cook
Employment Status: Full-Time
Location: 1364 Main Street, Winnipeg, MB
Hours: 2 PM–10 PM
Position Summary
The Dishwasher / Janitor supports kitchen and facility operations by maintaining cleanliness, sanitation, and organization throughout the entire restaurant facility. This role ensures dishware, equipment, floors, storage areas, dining areas, entrances, office space, and washrooms are clean, safe, and inspection-ready to support uninterrupted food production and service.
Core Responsibilities
- Operate dishwashing equipment safely and efficiently
- Sanitize cookware, utensils, trays, and kitchen tools
- Maintain clean and organized dish pit, sinks, and sanitation areas
• Maintain and monitor sanitation buckets and cleaning solutions as required • Remove garbage, recycling, and compost from kitchen, dining room, office, entrances, and exterior bins as required
- Maintain cleanliness throughout the entire facility, including:
- Kitchen and prep areas
- Dining room (tables, chairs, floors, service stations)
- Front entrance and back entrance areas
- Office and administrative space
- Staff areas and storage rooms
- Walk-in coolers and dry storage areas
- Sweep and mop floors regularly in kitchen, dining room, entrances, office, and storage areas
- Clean and restock washrooms throughout shift, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, floors, and supplies
• Sanitize high-touch surfaces (door handles, counters, light switches, service areas) • Follow daily, weekly, and assigned deep cleaning schedules
- Support kitchen staff with basic non-cooking tasks as directed
• Maintain compliance with Manitoba food safety and sanitation regulations • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications & Experience
- Previous dishwashing, sanitation, or cleaning experience is an asset
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to cleanliness and detail

Training & Certification Requirements
• Food Handler Certification (asset but not mandatory unless required by policy) • WHMIS certification (asset)
On-the-job training will be provided.
Employment Requirements & Working Conditions
This position may be full-time or part-time based on operational needs. Work schedules may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, statutory holidays, and peak seasonal periods.
Compensation is based on experience and internal pay structure and is confirmed in the Letter of Offer.
A three (3) month probationary period applies. Performance, reliability, cleanliness standards, teamwork, and adherence to sanitation protocols will be reviewed during this period.

The role requires extended standing for prolonged periods, frequent lifting of 30–60 lbs, repetitive motion, exposure to water and cleaning chemicals, and the ability to work in a warm, fast-paced kitchen environment.
