This role involves a strong community focus, providing an opportunity to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to support First Nations communities through programming and information related to substance use, guided by Indigenous Harm Reduction Principles and Practices.
Title: Indigenous Educator, Harm Reduction
Salary: $ 91,172 - $107,261 - $123,351 per year (pay range explained below)
Contract: Term- ending June 1, 2027
Hours: 37.5 hours (core hours 9am-3pm Mon-Fri)
Location: Hybrid – 3 days in office and 2 work from home – work anywhere within the Vancouver Island Region- Frequent travel is required for this position.
About the role
As an Indigenous Educator, Harm Reduction, you will travel as required and confidently deliver presentations to diverse audiences. You will apply your experience in both Indigenous harm reduction and Western harm reduction approaches to support community learning and engagement. You will bring strong skills in Naloxone training, drug checking, and Opioid Agonist Therapy. You will also play a key role in implementing and supporting Safer Use Supply programs within community settings.
About you
To be successful in this role you will have/be
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Health Promotion, Social Work, Clinical Psychology or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
Experience
- Recent, relevant and significant experience in the area of Indigenous harm reduction (usually acquired over a period of 3-5 years)
- Experience working with Indigenous leadership, health professionals and communities

The Pay Range is the minimum and maximum annual salary based on full time equivalent hours.
Incumbents are typically hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the range based on their knowledge, skills, abilities and experience in relation to the role requirements.
The top 10% of the pay range is for the incumbents who are industry experts in the job with the combination of exceptional experience and competencies needed to perform all duties and responsibilities at a superior capability level. Internal employee compensation will be determined as per the FNHA Employee Total Compensation Policy.
