We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Bookkeeper and Payroll Specialist to join our team. Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar platforms.
- Perform general ledger accounting, including journal entries, account analysis, and account reconciliation to ensure data integrity.
- Conduct bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations regularly to verify account accuracy.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes efficiently, ensuring timely payments and collections.
- Process payroll accurately and on schedule while ensuring compliance with tax regulations and payroll laws.
- Prepare detailed financial reports, including budget reports, financial statements, and audit documentation in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
- Handle tax-related tasks such as tax experience for non-profit or governmental accounting environments and assist with tax filings as needed.
- Support internal controls through double-entry bookkeeping practices and proper documentation of all financial transactions.
- Assist with governmental reporting requirements and ensure adherence to relevant financial concepts and standards.
- Conduct regular account reconciliation activities, including bank reconciliation and general ledger reconciliation to maintain precise financial data.
Experience
- Proven experience in bookkeeping, payroll processing, or related financial roles within corporate or non-profit settings.
- Strong proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar platforms; experience with Quicken is a plus.
- Knowledge of GAAP standards and technical accounting principles applicable to various organizational types.
- Familiarity with governmental accounting procedures and nonprofit accounting practices is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to perform balance sheet reconciliation, account analysis, journal entries, and general ledger accounting accurately.
- Experience handling accounts payable/receivable workflows, bank reconciliations, and tax-related tasks.
- Excellent understanding of debits & credits, double-entry bookkeeping systems, and financial report writing skills.
