The Nutritional Specialist operates and manages all kitchen related aspects of the Early Learning Facility.
Responsibilities
· Provide healthy meals.
· Safe and clean work environment for the preparation and implementation of 2 snacks and a lunch daily for 45 children and 10 staff.
· Prepares “from scratch” foods.
· Ensures food is not wasted, adapts the amount to make and uses up food that may go to waste.
· Ensures there is enough food children/staff to eat.
· Aware of special diets, allergies etc., preps accordingly and offers alternative provided by parent/guardian.
· Practices sensible and practical food preparation.
· Food is handled with respect, proper preparation practiced.
Health and Safety
· Dishes are cleaned according to OHS.
· Watches for cross contamination.
· Ensures kitchen is safe from hazards, reports concern to SS.
· Maintains a clean, attractive, and safe work environment.
· Observes the environment, makes changes right away, anticipates concerns.
· Maintains sanitary and safe practices in food preparation and service.
· Ensures kitchen is tidy and organized at the end of each day.
· Equipment and procedures for cleaning dishes and utensils are sanitary and safe.
Professionalism
· Models healthy habits for children and staff.
· Displays good time management skills: planning, meal prep, and cleaning.
· Punctual and ready for work.
· Professionally manages conflict with peers.
Qualifications
· Safe food handling/food safety course
-ECE LEVEL 1-asset
· Experience cooking for large groups
Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector search.
First Aid and CPR- required
