The Opportunity
EMBERS Staffing is hiring Skilled Labourers for active construction sites across the Nanaimo region. This is a step above general labour — we are looking for people who know their way around power tools, can handle basic carpentry tasks, and are confident working independently on a busy job site.
Shifts are available on a temporary, on-call, and contract basis, with ongoing opportunities around Nanaimo as projects come in.
What You'll Be Doing
- Operating a range of power tools independently and safely, including drills, circular saws, grinders, nail guns, and jackhammers
- Installing drywall from boarding through to taping and mudding
- Carrying out simple repairs and fixes on site, reading measurements accurately and working with a nailer as required
- Working at heights when required, following all fall protection protocols and WorkSafeBC safety standards
- Safely handling, moving, and transporting materials across the job site
- Supporting the Foreman with general labour tasks as directed and keeping the site organized and hazard-free throughout the day
- Following all health and safety regulations and site-specific requirements without exception
What You Need
- Minimum 1 Year of skilled construction labour experience (required)
- Demonstrated ability to operate power tools independently on a job site — you will be asked about this in your application
- Familiarity with drywall installation processes including boarding, taping, and mudding is an asset
- Physically capable of performing sustained manual labour throughout a full shift
- Full PPE required: hard hat, safety vest, steel-toed boots, safety glasses, and gloves
- Dependable and punctual — the crew and Foreman are counting on you
- Fall Protection Certification (preferred — candidates with this will be prioritized)
- Additional machinery or safety certifications are a strong asset
