Responsibilities
- Safely operate delivery vehicles to transport goods to designated locations.
- Load and unload cargo, often involving heavy lifting and moving items within warehouses or delivery sites.
- Use forklifts or other equipment as needed for moving heavy or bulky items (training provided if necessary).
- Ensure accurate delivery by verifying orders and obtaining signatures when required.
- Communicate effectively with customers regarding delivery times and any potential delays.
- Maintain the cleanliness and safety of the vehicle and delivery equipment.
- Follow all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies during deliveries.
- Keep detailed records of deliveries, mileage, and vehicle maintenance needs.
Skills
- Experience with moving heavy items safely and efficiently.
- Knowledge of forklift operation is a plus; training can be provided.
- Strong customer service skills to ensure positive interactions with clients.
- Excellent communication skills for clear coordination with dispatch and customers.
- Previous warehouse experience is beneficial for understanding logistics and handling goods properly.
- Commercial driving experience with a valid driver’s license suitable for operating delivery vehicles.
- Ability to handle physically demanding tasks such as heavy lifting and prolonged periods of standing or walking.
