We are looking for a detail-oriented Technical Estimator to join our team in Delta, BC. This is a hybrid position that blends estimating with technical sales, focusing heavily on projects that go beyond our standard scope.
You will work alongside our sales team to build practical solutions, put together accurate estimates, and guide projects from the first customer email all the way to a closed sale. Depending on the project, you might step in to help an Account Manager handle the technical side of a quote, or you might run the entire estimating and sales process from start to finish.
What You Will Do
- Review customer needs, drawings, specifications, and project scopes.
- Build detailed, accurate estimates for custom container and modular projects.
- Price out individual components, materials, and fabrication requirements within our ERP system.
- Partner with Account Managers to provide technical pricing and solutions for complex deals.
- Take charge of highly technical inquiries from the initial request through to the estimate, quote, follow-up, and sale.
- Talk directly with customers to figure out exactly what they need and offer realistic, cost-effective solutions.
- Collaborate with our internal design and production teams to make sure proposed solutions can actually be built.
- Review material, labour, fabrication, and subcontractor costs so that no detail is missed.
- Write up professional quotes that clearly outline the scope, exclusions, and pricing.
- Follow up on active quotes to confidently progress deals through the sales cycle.
- Keep all project and customer data accurate in our ERP system.
Who We Are Looking For
You need to be technical and highly organized, but just as importantly, you need to be comfortable dealing directly with customers. You will be on the phone, writing emails, and sitting in on customer meetings when needed. This is not a back-room estimating job; you need to be able to explain technical details clearly and actively help close sales.
Compensation: $75,000 base salary + commission
Qualifications & Experience
- Background in construction, building, fabrication, manufacturing, or a related technical field.
- Past experience in estimating, project costing, or technical sales is highly preferred.
- A solid grasp of materials, fabrication methods, and construction processes.
- The ability to read and interpret drawings, specs, and technical documents.
- Sharp attention to detail when costing projects.
- Confidence in speaking and working directly with customers.
- Strong computer skills, including the ability to quickly learn and work within an ERP system.
- Comfortable using Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Excel, Teams).
- Highly organized and capable of juggling multiple estimates at once.
- Self-motivated and ready to work in a busy, demanding environment.
